Overview
The MelSA information theory retreat is a joint effort by the University of Melbourne and the University of South Australia. MelSA will provide a venue for Australian information theorists to propose new areas of research and tackle longstanding open problems. It is intended that the retreat will lead to new collaborations and bring about new exciting results in information theory.
Participation, Scope and Format
MelSA is open to all ACoRN members. Members who wish to attend are required to submit a brief research proposal before Friday October 31. It is desired that each proposal provides:
- A description of a new or open problem in information theory,
- An outline of the relevant introductory literature, and
- A brief discussion of some ideas which may be used to solve the problem.
All research submissions will be listed on MelSA’s (secure) website. Prior to the retreat, all participates are strongly encouraged to investigate these submissions and contribute to the open discussion on the website. The retreat will be largely unstructured and will provide an informal setting (away from university pressures) where participants may focus the problems that most interest them.
Submission are to be made via email to Roy Timo (roy.timo@unisa.edu.au). For more information, please contact Roy Timo.
