ACoRN Workshop on Co-operative Wireless Communications

Cooperative communications systems improve the capacity and transmission reliability of wireless transmissions by allowing cooperation between nodes or multi-user terminals. The research in this area has recently attracted a significant attention and has become one of most important research directions in wireless communications.

This second ACoRN Workshop on Cooperative Wireless Communications will be held in Victoria University, on 16 July 2008. The speakers will be Prof Xiang-Gen Xia and Dr Mischa Dohler. There will also be a half day tutorial on the Thursday 17 July 2008 by Dr Mischa Dohler.

This workshop will provide a forum to allow Australian researchers to present and discuss the recent research development in the area of cooperative communications, such as the fundamental principles, analysis and design of cooperative communications, and advanced cooperative transmission and receiving techniques in particular. The workshop will cover, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Cooperative relay algorithms : decode and forward, amplify and forward, compress and forward, distributed antenna arrays, parallel relaying, multi-hop transmission.
  • Analysis of cooperative communication systems : Capacity analysis, Outage performance analysis, diversity analysis, system performance analysis with various degrees of channel state information.
  • Coding techniques : cooperative space-time coding, soft-information relay, cooperative LDPC codes, differential cooperative coding, or turbo codes
  • Advanced transmission techniques : relay selection, power allocation techniques,
  • Advanced receiving techniques : iterative receivers, channel estimations,
  • Multi-terminal relay networks : spatial multiplexing, transmission precoding and interference cancellation at relays, MAC scheduling

Time slots for oral presentation will be allocated to students or researchers who are working in related areas and submit a title and brief abstract by 1st of July to:
